The Dutch family-owned company, Heemskerk Fijnmechanica, operates a machine park of approximately 50 CNC machines with an equal number of employees. They specialize in CNC turning and milling, manufacturing high-quality components tailored to various customer specifications.
At Heemskerk Fijnmechanica, creating a safe and healthy working environment for employees is a top priority. Dissatisfied with the air quality in their workshop, they tested several filter-based oil mist solutions but found that these systems demanded significant time and money for maintenance annually. Through Glavitech, 3nine’s distributor in the Benelux region, they invested in six 3nine oil mist separators from the BLUE LINE series in 2016. After six months of operation, they were very pleased with the results. Not only was the air quality greatly improved, but they also discovered substantial operational efficiency gains.

In addition to significantly improved air quality, they noticed a lower and more consistent temperature in the machine tools and about a 50°F (10°C) reduction in the cutting fluid tank temperature. This more stable temperature contributes to higher machining precision and extends the life of the cutting fluid. The fact that the oil mist separators have operated flawlessly with virtually no maintenance—even in demanding applications like a Nakamura Tome CNC lathe running 24/7—has convinced Lucien Heemskerk to specify a 3nine oil mist separator on every new machine tool they purchase going forward.
